Christmas tree ornaments. If you decorate the tree for the first time in your life let it be green classic colour. Any colours of ornaments will suit it and it will give you some feeling of childhood and old times that we lack so much. Buy glass balls of 2 colours. Gold and dark red. This is classic, and maybe you think it will look too easy, but believe me, they are the perfect colours for green tree. If you can be sure that using multi colours will not turn your tree in to something messy and untidy with feeling of decorating tree in 2 minutes, then read my other articles but if you just want everything to look really beautiful on this wonderful day, make your choice for these two colours. Do not buy toppers and other useless accessories. All you need is tree stands and skirts. About the sizes. Ornaments sizes must be suitable for your tree size. Taller the tree, large the ornaments must be. Do not use too big ornaments for small trees. If your house is small, there is not a must to buy something huge. Small Christmas tree can also give feeling of miracle. About the lights. Ideally, prefer to buy pre lit Christmas trees. But really it is not so difficult to decorate the tree with lights. Prefer led lighting. Start decorating the tree with lights from the top, checking if the distance between circles is the same on all the levels. You can use colourful bulbs, but if it is a big tree, prefer classic colourless ones. Do not spray snow on the tree, use it to cover stand only. As for the other colours like black tree- the best colours for it are silver and blue. White Christmas trees can be decorated in any 2 colours you like or that suit for your room decor. Or it can have just blue or golden ornaments on it.

Christmas tree decorations. What about the other decorations like toys, angels, pets, santa, snowman, family symbols and so on? This is just another story about Christmas trees. If you are a big family with children, there is no need to think how to decorate your Christmas tree. All you need to buy a tree on some sale and children will do the rest. Do shopping for ornaments with children all together. Trust them, just close your eyes or go out – your Christmas tree will be perfect!

 Advantage of wall mirror. Why and were I can use wall mirrors? First of all wall mirror is the best for halls and rooms of small sizes. Large mirrors allow to make rooms look wider. I just do not advice to use them in bedrooms and in families with small children.

Decorating house with wall mirrors. If you want wall mirrors to be one of the main accessories, prefer etched wall mirrors. This means that some images or artworks are imprinted into the glass. You can even add some etched designs to a plain mirror yourself with some of etching techniques like laser, hand or acid ones.

Framed mirrors. The most popular type of wall mirror is frame. Not everybody wants wall mounted mirrors, in this case framed mirror is another opportunity to decorate the walls in the house with the help of mirrors. There is really a big choice of frames that can suit to any home design, you can order any design and any mirror shape you want. Bought by order they cost higher that ready mirrors but it is a good investment in your house decor. On another hand frame price depends on mirror sizes that is why wall mirrors, especially from floor to ceiling are not cheap at all. What type of frame to choose? Bold and sturdy wooden furniture units require heavy and wide frame. When you use modern and light furniture with light colours some narrow frame is ok.

Beveled wall mirrors. What is beveled mirror? That means that mirror has angled edges that give sleek image. Usually beveled mirros are used without frames. Frameless beveled mirrors create reflections of light at eats edges depending on colours of the room.

Cleaning and care. Keep your wall mirror dry and use clean warm water or vinegar to clean it.Do not use abrasive cleaners to remove old spots and when using sprays apply them on cloth and do not spray it on the mirror direct.

 First of all there are silvered, silvered tinted, silvered safety, non – silvered ( metal and plastic ) mirrors. Usually, when we do shopping we care mostly about mirror’s shape than materials it was made of. Are you looking for oval or round mirror? Or may be mirror from floor – to – ceiling? In my next article i will tell about them too, here still i want to explain what is the different between these mirror types and which mirror is better for home decoration.

Silvered mirror. There are different types of silvered mirrors: clear mirror, ultra clear mirror, antiqued mirror, concave mirror, convex mirror and first surface mirror. All silvered mirrors have metal layer on it back and also protected by backing paint that is applied above metal.

Silvered tinted mirror. Tinted mirrors have the save way of manufacturing, but in this case coating is applied to tinted glass. This type of mirrors is used mostly for decoration that for using it as a reflection mirror like makeup mirrors and bathrooms mirrors.

Silvered safety mirror. There are 3 types of safety mirrors: Tempered, laminated and safety backed mirrors. Though this type of mirror production  does not protect them from braking, it allows to reduce injuries.

Non – silvered mirror. There are some types of non silvered mirrors also: transparent, pyrolytic, metal and plastic mirrors. Pyrolytic mirrors are ideal for bathrooms ( were glass is used instead of tiles ) and other areas with high humidity. Two way mirrors ( transparent ones ) allow to be a reflective mirror from one side and transparent glass from another. This type of glass is used in hospitals and other buildings where needed. When using transparent mirror lighting in the house is very important. Only when all the lighting ratios are settled right the effect of mirror on one side and glass on the other will be reached. What is metal mirror? It is just a high polished metal that is used in the places that require safety. At homes there is no need in metal mirrors, but maybe you can buy it for yard decoration. Plastic mirrors are almost the same like metal ones, just in this case plastic is covered by a thin reflective metal cover. It is used for toys, crafts and children’s furniture.  

As you can see, all types of mirrors can be used at home, maybe you can find here some ideas how to decorate house and garden in your own style.

Lighting. It is good if your room that you are going to decorate is on the  sunny side, has big windows and good lamp. What to do if it is not so but still you want your room to look brighter and larger? Even if you use a lot of lighting and do not care about electricity you use, remember, that dark, cold colours make room look smaller. Warm dark colour also make room seem smaller but cosy. I have already told you in another article about the colours to paint walls and how colours affect size of rooms. So as you can understand it is better to use light and neutral colours. It is not a must to have white walls. You can paint walls in light colours of pink, green, blue, beige, cream.

Trim and moldings’ colour is also important. It is ok to paint them in the same colour with walls or in some lighter colours and white. Do not paint trim in darker colours cause it will make corners sharp. Also light colour of moldings make walls appear further back, so visually your small bedroom or living room looks larger.

Furniture. Do not worry, there is no need to make your room like an egg or like a hospital, you can use dark colours when decorating the room with furniture, art and accessories. Set your furniture at an angle cause diagonal is  longer that the other straight lines. Sure it is not valid for wardrobes but ideal for long sofas, you can also use area behind it in the corner for flowers. Use scaled – down furniture. There is really a big choice of furniture for small rooms, bathrooms, laundry and powder rooms. Do not thing that this type of furniture is ugly. May be you just need to shop around to find something with new design and modern colours.

Wallpapers. If you want to use wallpapers instead of paint buy only solid colours. Any pattern will make your room seem more narrow.

Ceiling. Always paint your ceiling  in white, it will make the walls look higher than they are, it is especially important in small living room and dining room.

Mirrors. Mirror is a great way to make rooms look larger. It not only enlargers room by reflecting the walls but it also reflects light that make rooms lighter and brighter. Although it is not a good idea to put mirrors in the bedrooms and on the ceilings like some people do. It is well known that if you sleep in front of the mirror you can have headache or you can not sleep well. As for the other rooms, you can buy cabinets, vanities, wardrobes with mirrors on the doors and you can make floor to ceiling mirror walls in living room. I do not advice to make big mirrors in dining room also cause it is said that eating in front of the mirror makes you become fatter. It is you to decide to believe it or not. As for home security i do not advice to use big mirrors if you have baby or children in the house. It can be just dangerous for them during playing games. I will also give detailed information on home decorating with mirrors in my next article.

1. Black hole. If we think about psychology black colour always means a hole or emptiness. We can not see anything in a hole if it is in the shade. We scare to enter darkness and we we always scare to fall down. Of course a carpet in your house is not a hole, but black tiles or carpet on the floor can always bring this feeling to you, even if you do not notice it. If you buy black carpet or even worse, you use black tiles for flooring it will always give negative feeling to you even if you do not pay to it much attention. Furniture in black may look stylish and you can buy black furniture like sofa for living room but there is one more disadvantage why you should not do it.

2. Dirty black. It works only on black shoes when you can be sure that your shoes are dirty when you come from a walk. It is not the same with furniture. Dirt on black furniture can hardly be noticed and maybe it is perfect for those who is looking for low maintenance. But hygiene is low also. You can never see how clear your furniture is. Well, maybe you change your clothes when you enter home but it is not the same about bathrooms. Lime as it is white will be seen, but dirt will not be. You will always think how lucky you are, you bathroom is clean, your bathtub is self cleaned. Do not lie to yourself. Even blue colour of bathtub can hide dirt. The only colour suitable for bathtub is white, if it is white you will see how quickly it becomes yellow or gray after each cleaning.

Ask to yourself, do you really need black colours in your home decoration? Black colours will give stylish view of your rooms but never cosiness. You can combine colours but mixing black with other colours like white, red and any other that suit each other, but do not decorate your floors and bathroom at least. Do not buy black fridge. Kitchen and fridge is a symbol of wellness in your house. Wellness will disappear in this black hole and one day you will want to change everything to warmer colours and it will cost you a lot. Think twice.

Professional home decorating advices. Well, if you can afford it yourself, calling for a professional can be the best idea. Some people from birth have such a sense of feeling what is beautiful and what is not, but some of us not. This is not bad. I am sure are are doing your job perfectly or your studies at school are excellent. This is just not your work! Each of us do something better than the others. I think that calling for help is not a shame, and on another hand it is also not a good idea to save money on it. It can be a very good investment for years. You will be proud of your house, your guests will feel cosy themselves, and you will not worry where to put that yellow 1 meter vase that you bought on your way to dentist. Isn’t is?

Home decor is not only about furniture and accessories for house. It’s colours match, it’s style, and many other important things that home decorators know, but you may be not. Especially if you are interested in giving some special style to different rooms. Children rooms, living room in oriental style with a very expensive oriental carpet, or may be you want your house to look like a castle. Who knows what you like? Only you. Tell your decorator what exactly you are expecting, and believe me, you will get something breathtaking and incredibly stylish. Even choosing the right colours for a usual small apartment that you are currently renting can make your place of living cosy and warm.
